NYSC online registration is not complicated, but it is unforgiving of mistakes. The steps below follow the order set out in the NYSC's own guidance, with practical notes on where people usually go wrong.
Step 1: Check the timetable
Registration only opens during the window on the official NYSC mobilisation timetable. Dates are different for every batch and stream — see our latest NYSC updates.
Step 2: Verify your details on the senate list
For Nigeria-trained graduates, the NYSC advises checking that your details are correct as uploaded by your institution. Only graduates whose names appear on the Senate/Academic Board approved result lists can register.
If your name is missing or your details are wrong, contact your institution's Student Affairs Officer early.
Step 3: Prepare what you need
- a functional email address
- your correct matriculation number
- a clear passport photograph with an off-white background
- your signature (scanned, or via a digital signature scanner)
Our NYSC registration documents checklist covers everything in detail.
Step 4: Create your account
Go to the NYSC registration portal linked from the official website and create an account with your functional email address.
Step 5: Activate your account
Open the activation link sent to your email. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive, and do not create duplicate accounts.
Step 6: Fill in your details
Enter your personal and academic information carefully. Take your time on your name, date of birth and course of study.
Step 7: Capture your biometrics
Biometric capture is part of registration and, as the NYSC stresses, must not be done by proxy. You need to be present.
Step 8: Upload your photograph and signature
Upload a clean, clear passport photograph with an off-white background, then upload your scanned signature or sign using a digital signature scanner.
Step 9: Preview, agree and submit
Preview the registration form and make sure every detail is correct. Agree to the terms and conditions and submit.
Step 10: Keep your login details
The NYSC reminds registrants to keep their login details for later use. You need them to print your call-up letter and to request corrections.
Concessional posting
If you qualify for concessional posting on marital or health grounds, request it during registration and upload the supporting documents. Our documents checklist lists what the NYSC asks for.
After registration: your dashboard
The NYSC lists several self-services on the prospective corps member's dashboard, including:
- correction of name spelling mistakes
- correction of date of birth, course of study, class of degree and qualification
- printing of call-up, exclusion and relocation letters
- application for relocation after camp
The NYSC does not approve the addition or removal of names.
Then: call-up letter and camp
When the call-up printing window opens, follow our guide on how to print your NYSC call-up letter. Once you know your camp, check the orientation camp addresses and find corps members travelling to the same camp.
